For those who are wondering about how they pulled off the chainsaw hand in "Evil Dead 2", the original gas motor was removed and a small electric motor was inserted so to give the appearance that the chainsaw was still intact and running. There was enough room in the engine housing for Campbell's hand. And for the exhaust, cigarette smoke blown through a tube was used. All this comes from the ED2 commentary track on DVD.
