He is given the opportunity to choose between the life he has or the life he's always wanted. I got the idea after watching the trailer for The Butterfly Effect. Oh and the song is It's Been Awhile by Staind which I've already made a video too but this one doesn't really have to do with the song, it just seemed to fit.
