The song at the beginning is a direct coralation (spelling) of that mentality they have had to try to stay away from. And in doing so they get labeled and thrown into the same category as the people they have tried there best to not let influence them. But no matter what those things have an influence and is a constant reminder as to why they play so hard. This is not made up in anyway. Many and I mean many articles have stated this very thing about individual players on the team. Darnel Jenkins, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, and so on.

And USC is to Television and Movies what the U is to the NFL. Reggie Bush is TV every 11 minutes, USC players are all over MTV, and that matters to these kids that wanna be stars. USC can recruit kids with promises of getting them onto the MTV awards. All these videos help.
